Comments: BTC has been ranging for 6 months now while altcoins have been selling off:

As most on CT are holding heavy altcoin bags, the vibes have been - understandably - poor as of late.

Having waited most of the year for 'altcoin season' to come (which never did) and bleeding out in the meantime - especially after memecoins nuked -, people are leaving the space in droves and many big (ex-)crypto influencers have pivoted to talking about A.I., health and politics.

This is an indication of fair-weather influencers and speculators getting culled for the moment and who will undoubtedly return when the market runs hot again.

Personally, I find things are getting interesting because the best bargains appear when the casuals lose interest and leave... so I've been compiling a list of assets to accumulate in the event that prices drop to more attractive levels.

For now, I'm in no rush to add to existing positions and prefer to sit with a big bag of stables and chill.

💭 Cycle thoughts

This cycle has been fraught with unprecedented events:

• BTC hit a new ATH before the halving (catching people off guard and missing the move)
• BTC formed the longest ever consolidation below previous ATH (chopping people up)
• ETH severely underperformed the next largest altcoins after BTC made a new ATH (even with the launch of Ethereum ETFs)
• Altcoin dispersion (leading people to jump narratives and get rekt when prices reversed soon after)

So in case it isn't obvious by now, the lesson is clear: If we wish to do well this cycle we should avoid referring to past cycles for guidance. Those who continue to follow past patterns will keep suffering until they realize this.

The bad news is there's a lot less clarity about how this cycle will play out; It will be a lot harder to make money this time around.

The good news is those who reason from first principles have the advantage. If you can come up with a self-generated thesis (instead of blindly following influencers who mostly parrot past cycle patterns) you have a much better chance of performing well.

This cycle will be exactly the same as prior cycles in only one way: The winners will be few and losers will be many.
